Our Inspiration
Cultures across the world are brought together by a common love of cooking over an open flame. 1881 takes inspiration from communal open fire cooking, voyaged from everywhere across the Mediterranean. Our restaurant tells a story of tradition, values, collecting and sharing of ingredients, and gathering influences from travel. Our menu reflects this culinary heritage of bringing the finest quality ingredients, seasonality, and simplicity that goes back to the roots of cooking, but with an elevated presentation. Clean elemental cooking, created together and shared together over an open fire, is the basis of 1881.

Our Methods
Our wood-fired oven takes center stage in our open kitchen, viewable for all guests to gather around, engage, and enjoy. We believe in mastering the art of food with two core elements; Heat, which ultimately determines the texture of food, and Salt, which enhances flavor. Cooking with these simple elements enhances the most simple and highest quality ingredients that are as close to their natural stat as possible. 1881’s goal is to use fire in order to bring people together not only for sharing a meal, but in addition experiencing immediate and lasting moments of laughter, love for food, drink, and community.
Wood Burning Stove
Our 100 inch Wood Fired Oven is not just for bread! Most of our dishes will be prepared in this oven to provide extra flavor and for dishes that need to be prepared at temperatures close to 800 degrees F. Bread, meat, fish, vegetables and desserts as you have never had them before
Himalayan Salt Dry Aging
What sets 1881 apart is the Himalayan salt meat aging process. A full-scale aging room is an experience you won’t find anywhere else in the area! Proper aging is an art, and their chefs are eager to share their expertise with you. Whether you prefer aged steak for 21, 45, or 60 days or furthermore you want to get creative with ingredients like butter and wine, our chefs will make sure it’s aged to your liking. Incorporating salt into the process enhances the fully natural aging process, resulting in a unique taste and tenderness that are truly exceptional. Street parking is conveniently located in front, with two rear parking lots directly behind, and additional parking lots in the surrounding blocks.With an ideal location wrapped around I-95 and Interstate I-287, and the major crossroads Westchester Avenue, (Route 112) and King Street (Route 120A), 1881 offers convenient access from any direction, and is easily accessible from Westchester, CT and NYC. In Addition, there is also access to mass transit as 1881 is next to to the Port Chester Metro North Train Station and parking lot.
